Celebrate 25 Years of Gay Rights in Wisconsin

Kay emailed this. She noted that PFLAG is a sponsor of the celebration.

On Friday, April 13th OutReach will host a celebration marking the 25th Anniversary of the signing of the na-tion's first 'gay rights' legislation. We believe that by honoring and celebrating the past, we can gain the strength and support necessary to move forward in our continuing struggle for equal rights.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Olbrich Gardens (3330 Atwood Ave., Madison). The reception will feature nationally known comedian Vickie Shaw, live music by Party, Incoporated, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

Please mark the date of April 13th on your calendar now and plan to join us for this historic celebration!!

Tickets will be $30 per person or $50 per pair and will go on sale at OutReach (600 Williamson St., Ste. P-1, Madison, WI 53703) beginning March 19th!

PFLAG Support Education Advocacy (SEA) Meeting 3/8/7 at the Elders’

On Thursday, March 8th, eleven PFLAG Madison members met at the Elder’s to discuss projects to further our mission of support, education and advocacy (thanks to Kay for getting this started). A lively discussion resulted in eight topics being considered. The group voted to concentrate on three of these while keeping the other top-ics for possible future work.

Over a very tasty repast provided by Joann the discussion continued, resulting in two committees being formed. One committee will concentrate on getting information on PFLAG Madison to many public groups by a variety of media. This committee is chaired by Carl White, Nancy Jones and Diane Wensel. The second committee will work on contacts with area churches and faith communities offering our meeting information for bulletins, speakers for group discussions, and GLBT related information. Chairs for this committee include Karen Baker, Beth Colello, Joann Elder and Carl White. The third topic, the collecting in a resource notebook of information on GLBT supportive organizations and people will be worked on also.

Chairs of committees will welcome assistance from other PFLAG members. Please contact them with your of-fer to help.
