  • Madison Area Gay / Bi Fathers Group

The Gay/Bi Fathers Group has been active in Madison since 1984. Our membership represents a broad spectrum of gay and bisexual men who have children: some with young children, some with adult children, and some with grandchildren. Most of our members were married and divorced, and some have chosen to be parents within their existing gay relationship. Some of our members are openly gay in all aspects of their lives, and some have not yet come out to their children and/or others. Our group is useful to members for support and socializing. Our collective experiences help each other cope with being ourselves, coming-out, parenting, separation, divorce and many other issues.

  • Teens Like Us

Teens Like Us (TLU) is a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and gay –friendly youth. We provide a safe place to meet and discuss issues that affect you. We also have several events through out the year. TLU is a great place to meet other youth that may be dealing with the same things you are. We meet every Tuesday at Youth Services of Southern WI (1955 Atwood Avenue Madison WI) on the 2nd floor of the Chase Bank Building.

Many of the youth that attend TLU are very different from one another and that’s what makes the group a great place. There is diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, age, and opinions. Everybody in group has had their first meeting and it can be scary to start, but the group provides a safe place for you to be who you are.

Youth Services of Southern WI is also now doing HIV Testing at the agency every Wednesday from 5:30 – 7:30 PM or by appointment with youth ages 24 and under. Results are in two weeks and we do the OraSure testing which means no needles and no blood. If you would like more information you can always contact TLU.

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. We believe that such an atmosphere engenders a positive sense of self, which is the basis of educational achievement and personal growth. Since homophobia and heterosexism undermine a healthy school climate, we work to educate teachers, students and the public at large about the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike. We recognize that forces such as racism and sexism have similarly adverse impacts on communities and we support schools in seeking to redress all such inequities. GLSEN seeks to develop school climates where difference is valued for the positive contribution it makes in creating a more vibrant and diverse community. We welcome as members any and all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or occupation, who are committed to seeing this philosophy realized in K-12 schools.
